First Stretch Goal Unlocked!
7 months ago – Fri, Sep 12, 2025 at 09:42:19 AM

Hi Folks!

That was fast!

We just hit our First Stretch Goal! That means the writers in this anthology get paid more! We always want to take care of our writers first, to make sure they get paid at professional rates whenever possible.

That means we have a very exciting stretch goal up next: Illustrations! If you've seen our previous anthologies, you'll know we've worked with Katie and Kris Cordy in the past to create some amazing illustrations for our books. However, due to a heavy work load and an unfortunate thumb fracture (now healing up), Katie and Kris weren't able to work on these illustrations.

Instead, we're working with Hannah "Spoon" Wilson, who runs Spoonwood Visuals. We met at several local conventions this year, and I really admire Hannah's art style, and I'm really looking forward to what they come up with!

Keep sharing, and tell your friends and family! How fast can we hit our next stretch goal?

Hi Folks!

Wow! You all really like Lesbians in Space!

Not only did we fund in almost exactly 24 hours (the fastest a Space Wizard campaign has funded!), we're already most of the way to our first stretch goal!

I was planning to share these with you in this update anyway, so here we go!

Stretch Goal 1: Pay our writers more! We at Space Wizard want to make sure our writers are well-paid, so when we hit $7000 (that's soon!) every author will get another 1 cent per word for their stories.

Stretch Goal 2: Illustrations! When we hit $8000, the five sections of the anthology will each get an illustration. The paperback version will be in black and white, and the eBook and hardback versions will be in color! Here's the one from the "Space Opera" section of the first book:

Stretch Goal 3: Pay our writers even more! At $10,000, We'll pay all our writers another 1 cent per word.

Stretch Goal 4: This is the big one! At $11,500, We'll give our hardback rewards a makeover. We did this for our first anthology, and they turned out beautifully. Now we know how it works, we've planned even more foil treatment and shininess for our cover. It will also come with a cloth bookmark, sprayed edges, premium paper, and color illustrations. Let's see if we can hit this one!

Here's another poll for you (see below): we've got a bunch of different Sapphic pairings for you in this anthology. Which kind are you most excited for? Let me know!

I'll be back with another update, probably when we hit our first stretch goal!

75% funded overnight!

Hi Folks!

We are blazing forward with this campaign! Once again, this is the fastest a Space Wizard campaign has grown. This time we've hit 75% funded in about 17 hours, and I wouldn't be surprised if we fund today or tomorrow! Thank you so much to everyone who made this possible, and I can't wait to get Lesbians in Space: The Sapphics Strike Back out to you all. The first anthology sells so well I can't keep it in stock, and the stories in this second one are just as good as the ones in the first.

Now, some exciting updates! Thanks to the ineffable Kelly Coston, I have some prototypes of the new stickers, pins, and keychains we're offering with the second anthology. Just take a look at these!

These are just mockups, so there may be a few adjustments to the final product, but I think they look great! Notice the fancy holographic coating on the stickers!

I'll leave you with a taste of what's in the anthology. If you've read the first one, you'll know it was divided up into five types of stories. This one is the same! In the poll below are the names of the five sections we've got for you this time. Which one are you most excited for? Let me know!

Until next time!
